Business Services is responsible for the following areas:

Facility Services

The Facility Services team is responsible for the maintenance and caretaking of 26 division owned facilities, as well as construction of new buildings, replacement schools, school modernizations, and modular installations. Responsibilities include:

  • Working with the director, two managers, 13 maintenance staff, and 75 caretakers
  • Capital planning
  • Budgeting
  • Construction projects
  • Tendering
  • Joint Use Planning with City of Red Deer
  • Infrastructure Maintenance and Renewal
  • Capital Maintenance and Renewal 
  • Sustainability
  • Working with Alberta Education and Alberta Infrastructure


The transportation team is responsible for ensuring that students arrive at school and return home safely and efficiently on either charter school buses or with City Transit. Responsibilities include:

  • Working with the transportation coordinator and assistant
  • Budgeting
  • Coordination of routes, capacities, etc.
  • Working with charter bus provider and City of Red Deer Transit Department
  • Working with Alberta Education and Alberta Transportation
  • Record Keeping for driver’s abstracts, logs, pre trip inspections, etc.
