District changing elementary boundaries – Implementation September 2017
Changes to elementary attendance boundaries will be reviewed at the January 13, 2016 meeting of the Board of Trustees.
With the September 2017 opening of our new school in the Inglewood community, the district underwent a review of attendance boundaries for elementary schools across the district.
Following considerable community involvement and input, including an online engagement survey, the District Accommodation Committee has made its recommendations. The recommended changes to attendance boundaries will have significant impact on many schools and families. We are confident that these recommendations align with our community's priorities as well as meeting the current and future needs for Red Deer Public Schools.
The Board of Trustees will have an initial review of the recommendations during the January 13 meeting. They will then allow a two week period for further input. The Board anticipates making a final decision on the boundaries at its January 27, 2016 meeting.
Given the significance of the recommendation, we anticipate considerable public interest.
- Schools which will be impacted by the proposed changes will:
- share the information on the changes with students in class on Monday, January 11th.
- be distributing copies of our Boundary Backgrounder to families on Monday, January 11th.
