The curtain is set to rise at Hunting Hills as they stage She Kills Monsters

Get ready to laugh and cry as students at Hunting Hills High School get ready to showcase She Kills Monsters: Young Adventurer’s Edition next week.

The production tells the story of high schooler Agnes Evans as she deals with the death of her younger sister, Tilly. Join Hunting Hills Theatre on this exciting adventure filled to the brim with 1990's nostalgia and Dungeons and Dragons action!

“A lot of big questions are asked and dealt with by our cast,” said Kiel Fredrickson, artistic director and teacher at Hunting Hills. “What is really awesome is, because this edition of the play has been made for high school actors, we’ve found that our cast has found the script really accessible and relatable.”

The production includes two casts made up of 22 students.

“It is completely double cast, which means if you see the Dungeons cast versus the Dragons cast, you’ll see entirely different people. They are similar shows, but they are different,” said Fredrickson. “The way the actors have developed in the two ensembles is completely unique.”

The structure of the two casts allows all students to accrue a meaningful experience and have larger roles in the production.

“They love the script. The costumes, lighting, and sound are really fun,” said Kelsey Rumberger, technical director and teacher at Hunting Hills.

Fredrickson said another highlight of the production is the intricate fight choreography.

“There are a ton of fight scenes that take place with swords and sabres, rolls and falling. It’s a challenge that you typically don’t see at a high school level,” he said. “We are working with a professional fight choreographer and she’s been fantastic.”

The Dragons Cast performs on Nov. 30th, Dec. 2nd, Dec. 7th, and the matinee performance on Dec. 8th. The Dungeons Cast performs on Dec. 1st, the evening of Dec. 6th, and the evening of Dec. 8th. Performances take place in the drama room at Hunting Hills.

The production is rated PG 13. Students under the age of 13 will not be permitted into the theatre without a caring adult. Guardian discretion is strongly advised for all audience members under the age of 13. Adults may bring any youth into the theatre at their discretion.

Tickets are $5 each and are available at under She Kills Monsters or with cash at the door.
