I became a trustee because of a lifelong interest in Public Education and hoping to make a difference in our students’ lives.
My priorities are West Park Middle School construction completion, the approval for another public high school and public elementary school in Red Deer, balanced budget, improved ability to help students and their families regarding wellness and family wellness, Local Public Education Autonomy and decision making, improved graduation and high school completion rates, improvement to our services for First Nations, Metis and Inuit students with an end goal of increasing their graduation and high school completion rates.
I’m a retired British Columbia Government Manager and have served as a Trustee in Red Deer since 2010. Previously, I’ve been involved in the Regional Hospital Foundation, Chair of the Red Deer Highland Games, Trustee in Prince George, B.C., BCSTA Director for three years and a Trustee in Nelson, BC.
I’m married to Terry Lynn (nee Holmes) a 5th generation Red Deerian, and together we have two children, son John and Erica (nee Steinbach) and my daughter Kristina and Paul (Tarnasky). I also have five grandchildren.
