RDPSD launches COVID-19 dashboard

Dashboard

This year is not like last year as Alberta Public Health is no longer identifying close contacts within schools and contact tracing is no longer being directed by Alberta Health Services.

We recognize families want to know the status of their child’s school in regards to COVID-19 cases, and we want to give any information that we can. To help keep our families and staff informed, Red Deer Public Schools has developed a COVID-19 Dashboard on its website.

The COVID-19 Dashboard will include the number of active cases within Red Deer Public Schools, a breakdown of active cases within each school, the percentage of absenteeism due to illness, as well as information regarding outbreaks at schools.

It is important to note if a student tests positive for COVID-19, the family may choose to contact their child’s teacher or principal to inform them of this information, as there are no current guidelines from Alberta Health Services. The dashboard contains information that is voluntarily shared by parents/guardians only.

Information on the dashboard will be updated at 4:30 p.m. each school day.

If parents/guardians give permission, a letter indicating there has been a positive COVID-19 case in your child’s class will be sent from your child’s school. No isolation or quarantine period is required as per Alberta Health guidelines. Students and staff may continue to attend in-person learning.

Families, as well as staff, are reminded of the importance of monitoring for any signs or symptoms of COVID-19 using the Alberta Health Daily Checklist. If you or any member of your family has any of the symptoms of illness listed, please complete the online Alberta Health Services COVID-19 self assessment to determine next steps.
