Posted onRed Deer Public Schools invites families to learn more about French Immersion programming at an upcoming open house at École Mountview Elementary on January 9 from 6-7 p.m. Families from across the city who are considering French Immersion for their children at the Kindergarten or Grade 1 entry points are encouraged to attend.
The open house will feature a presentation about the French Immersion program, as well as a dedicated question and answer session. “Red Deer Public Schools' French Immersion program provides students with the opportunity to develop language skills, cultural understanding, and academic excellence, setting the stage for lifelong learning,” said Amy Nye, Learning Services Coordinator. “Learning a second language, such as French, not only opens doors to cultural experiences, but also enhances cognitive development, problem solving skills, and academic performance. Our French Immersion program equips students with valuable skills that will benefit them for a lifetime.”
Representatives from all three elementary schools who offer French Immersion will be in attendance, along with Division staff, to ensure families have access to comprehensive information. For parents who would like to bring their children, child minding will be available in the school gym throughout the event.
Currently, Red Deer Public offers French Immersion programming at École Mountview Elementary, École Barrie Wilson Elementary, École Oriole Park, Central Middle and Lindsay Thurber Comprehensive High School.
