We live in an increasingly interconnected world and becoming proficient in a second language is an exciting choice for many families. Red Deer Public Schools offers French Immersion and Spanish Bilingual Programs beginning in Kindergarten, Grade 1 and Grade 6.

French Immersion Program:  is designed for students whose first language is not French. The objective is full mastery of the English language, functional fluency in French, as well as an understanding and appreciation of French cultures around the world. Students enter French Immersion in Kindergarten, or grade one, and follow the same curriculum as everyone else except the language of instruction is French. Students learn the language through content and by using French in meaningful ways. No special skills are required. Children with all types of academic ability can succeed in learning a second language!

Spanish Bilingual Program: This program provides students the opportunity to acquire the basic skills for speaking, reading, writing, listening and communicating in both English and Spanish at a young age. English and Spanish are used as the languages of instruction, beginning in Kindergarten or Grade 1 and continuing to Grade 12.

Both programs foster academic excellence, cultural appreciation, and language proficiency, preparing students for a globally connected future.
