As Superintendent, Mr. Erickson is responsible for supporting the Board of Trustees in all of its functions.  He provides leadership to Division staff in the provision of excellent programming for all students in Red Deer Public Schools.

Roles:

  • Support the Board of Trustees in its governance function
  • Has responsibility for carrying out the educational objectives, priorities and policies of the Board of Trustees
  • Provides leadership in educational administration and instructional programming to the Board of Trustees and to Red Deer Public Schools
  • Determining present and future educational needs of the Division and developing short and long-term plans for meeting those needs
  • Coordinating and integrating educational programs, physical facilities and financial and human resources with the Division

In 1995 I earned my Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Alberta, in the fall I began my teaching career teaching Science courses in the Self-Directed Learning program at HJ Cody School in Sylvan Lake Alberta.  The following year I moved to WM E Hay High School in Stettler, Alberta where I taught General Sciences and Biology courses. In 2000, I took a position in the Science Department at Lindsay Thurber, teaching General Science and Chemistry courses. In 2001, I completed a Master of Education degree in Administration from the University of Lethbridge. I was appointed as the curriculum leader for the Science Department in the 2002 school year.  In 2003, I was appointed vice principal at Lindsay Thurber and stayed in that position until June 2012.  I began the 2012 school year as vice principal at Hunting Hills High School, but was seconded as Division Administrator in October to support the Division`s Admin Growth Project.  In June 2013, I was appointed Principal of Lindsay Thurber, in 2020 I became the Associate Superintendent Learning Services and in 2022 I accepted a position as Deputy Superintendent.

Corrine and the People Services department are dedicated to supporting our people to ensure that we maintain excellent learning environments in our schools. We do this by:

  • Recruiting, selecting and retaining employees who provide a high quality of service in our school communities. 
  • Valuing growth, integrity and nurturing positive relationships. 
  • Supporting mentorship and leadership to ensure we are building strong working and learning environments in our Division.
  • Establishing and maintaining efficient and responsive payroll processes.
  • Administering employment contracts and employee classification systems.
  • Strategic workforce planning including terms of employment and collective bargaining.
  • Development and implementation of human resources processes including conflict resolution, mediation, growth, supervision and evaluation.

As Secretary Treasurer, I assist the Superintendent of Schools with all financial matters related to the Division. Some of my responsibilities include:

  • Serving as Treasurer to the Board of Trustees
  • Preparing and presenting the annual budget and quarterly financial reports
  • Preparing year-end financial reports to facilitate the audit
  • Administering and supervising all accounting procedures and expenditures
  • Overseeing and administering the purchasing of goods and services by the Division
  • Collecting all accounts receivable and funding on behalf of the Division
  • Supervising and authorizing payment of accounts payable
  • Administering and supervising the Division's insurance programs and risk management initiatives
