Baseball & Softball Academy

The Red Deer Public Schools is very excited to offer a Baseball and Softball Academy. We are looking for novice to elite ball players who want to enjoy and excel in baseball/softball and earn class credit while doing so! If you want to be an impact player on your team next season, have a dream of playing university or professional ball one day, or just want to play baseball/softball during school, this program is for you! Our student athletes will train at one of the largest and best indoor baseball/softball facilities in Western Canada with a professional and awesome coaching staff, under one of the best athletic development systems in Alberta.

What to expect: 

• A world class indoor baseball/softball facility 
• Coaches that have played or coached at the college/university, professional, and national team / Olympic levels
• Coaches and staff committed to developing the person and the player 
• Coaches who are passionate about every single player improving, enjoying their athletic development journey, and accomplishing their personal athletic goals
• Technical, tactical, physical, mental, and character/lifestyle development 
• Coaches and staff committed to placing players at the right colleges to continue their baseball/softball journey 
• Baseball/Softball technology as a tool to develop and track progress
• Learning proper nutrition  
• Middle school students will have 60 mins per day of baseball/softball development at The Dome from September to June
• High school students will have 90 mins per day of baseball/softball development at The Dome from September to June 

Our Facility: The Dome Red Deer 

• 107,000 square feet (great for full indoor baseball games, long toss, and seeing ball flight)
• 80 foot ceiling height at the peak
• Full MLB infield
• Full Softball infield
• 4 full size batting cages
• Weight room
• High Performance Center (unique to Canada)
• Café for lunch, shakes, and snacks 
• A multi-purpose room for video analysis and meetings

Baseball Directors 

• Dylan Flasch - Former US College baseball player, former assistant coach at Badlands Baseball Academy. Dylan helped every player on the team get recruited and commit to play college baseball. He is a current Central Alberta Sox coach at The Dome. 
• A former Canadian National Team Baseball player and coach 

Softball Director 

• Sarah Dorsey - Former US College softball player. Currently a Central Alberta Sox coach.

Strength and Conditioning Director

• Jim Frederickson - Holds over 20 years experience of performance training for both recreational and elite athletes. 

Player Development Director and Advisor 

• Noah Welch - Former university and professional hockey player. Works with players on mindset, character, and leadership development.

Costs

• Middle School - $1000 a year
• High School - $2900 year
